How to Make Sea Moss Gel (Irish Moss)

How to make SEAMOSS

Seamoss gel is very easy to make, the key is making sure you have the

"wild harvested" 'real' Irish Moss Seaweed
(chondrus crispus)

If it's real Irish moss it will be dried out until ready for use.

Soak it in water to bring it back to life (preferably spring water).

Wash it a few times very well.

Scratch off barnacles, sugars, debris etc., pay attention when washing your seaweed

After washing soak the seaweed in spring water and removing imperfections, you may soak the seaweed, chondrus crispus, in water with limes to help alkaline the water and to help make the seaweed softer and easier to blend

Once the sea moss is softer after soaking, rinse the seaweed or simply drain the water and blend it up with fresh spring water

(1-2 ounces at a time)

1 ounce of seaweed should make at least three 16oz jars of gel in a 64oz blender

Take a pint of water and add it in small amounts as the seaweed blends

(if you don't have a high powered blender this may take longer than expected so be sure to allow the blender to rest so you don't burn it out, blenders get hot very quickly)

This will make a thin to medium thickness of seamoss gel, the more water you add, the thinner the seamoss gel, if you like thicker seamoss, you must use less water

You may use the seamoss gel immediately or refrigerate it for up to one week

You can jar or bag the gel and freeze it as well for later uses. Seamoss Gel is thermo-reversible so you can thaw and re-freeze as much as you'd like, so don't waste it, freeze it!

Use your sea moss on your skin, in your smoothies, in your soups, breads, drinks, bathtubs, or make some powder from the dry seaweed and put it in the garden for beautiful flowers and more.....
